Neurogenic bladder as a result of spinal cord injury (SCI) causes a loss of voluntary control of urinary voiding and bowel emptying. The level of SCI has a major impact on severity and also influences the types of management options used. Bladder and bowel incontinence affect quality of life (QoL), social and daily activities and is associated with higher depression scores and higher numbers for unemployment.

In this webinar you will learn about:

  • Methods of bladder and bowel management, control of symptoms, and occurrence of complications.
  • Recommendations for healthcare providers regarding neurogenic bowel dysfunction (NBD) which affects individuals with SCI in many ways: physically, functionally, and psychosocially.
  • Prevention of bladder complications (e.g., urinary tract infections, vesicoureteral reflux, upper tract deterioration) should be prioritized to prevent morbidity and mortality in individuals with SCI.
